Law Primary has three Houses: Milton, Brownlee and Mauldslie. House and Vice Captains are chosen at the start of each session from our Primary 7s. The House and Vice Captains are a great asset to our school and they represent the pupils at events such as our Bistro Cafés, Parent/ Carer Evenings, Volunteers’ Coffee Afternoon and much more.
Our House Captains and Vice Captains meet regularly with Mrs McNeill to discuss school improvement. They have started a regular ‘Suggestion Time’ to gather the views of all our pupils (Pupil Voice). From this, we have several projects ongoing: enhancing the school grounds; sourcing funding for new playground/ wet play equipment and assessing the viability of setting up a Healthy Tuckshop.
Another of their roles is to maintain a record of the points awarded to each house. Points can be earned through competitions and through participation in Sports Day. At the end of each session the winning house is presented with a Cup which goes on display for the whole school community to see. Our current winners are: Mauldslie
The Pupil Council is made up of representatives from each of our Primary 3 to 7 classes. They meet regularly with Mrs Currie to plan and organise events in school. They also help gather information from all of our pupils (Pupil Voice). Most recently they have been helping Mrs Currie choose books for our Library. Earlier in the session they ran a very successful Macmillan Coffee Morning, this is an annual event at Law Primary helping to raise hundreds of pounds for this worthy cause.
Last session our Pupil Council Reps. also helped run our World Book Day activities and much more.
