The boys and girls have enjoyed taking part in a few competitions this term. They have each completed a hand washing poster to encourage good hand hygiene in NHS hospitals. They have taken part in the Junior Road Safety Competition run by our P6 officers, designing a poster to encourage walking to school and park and stride. We are currently gathering empty juice/milk cartons to enable us to create a bird feeder from recycled materials for the Overton Fruit Farm event happening on 6th October. 


Mrs Gibson was delighted to meet many visitors to Room 7 at our meet the teacher event.


Primary 5 are thoroughly enjoying their swimming lessons which take place every Thursday afternoon. 

Music Tuition

Primary 5 are learning to play the 
Glockenspiel and will soon have the opportunity to learn the guitar. This is provided by our visiting music specialists.

Literacy –
Room 7 will be working on fiction writing this term and are learning about core targets which will be expected in each piece of writing..

Numeracy –
The children in Room 7 will be focussing on place value and rounding.

The health and wellbeing focus this term is safe and Room 7 will be discussing the skills and abilities that are needed in different situations to be safe. They have already discussed online safety and how to be safe when crossing the road/riding scooters and bikes.

In P.E. the children have been learning ball skills such as throwing, catching, dribbling, passing and kicking. They have been developing skills such as balance and control and gross/fine motor.

Topic –
Room 7’s topic this term is Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. They children have already designed their own golden tickets and have enjoyed producing some artwork inspired by the story. They have also used the novel as a focus for reading strategies and have already discussed tricky words, main message, comprehension and visualiser.

Growth Mindset -
The children have been learning about the differences between fixed and growth mindsets. They have discussed these and have spent time sorting a variety of statements. They have learning to sing 'The Climb' and have discussed the message within the song.
