The boys and girls are busy practising their parts for their ssembly this week .The theme of the assembly is about Spanish Culture and language. They will be speaking, singing and dancing in Spanish. All Room 8's parents and carers are welcome. The assembly is on Friday 27th April at 9.30am.


This term the children will be focussing on non-fiction books in class and will continue to choose a book from our class library, to read at home. The non-fiction books will have the following titles:
Animals on the Move
Underwater Treasure
Plants, Pollen and Pollinators
Spotlight on Brazil

This term the children will be developing their writing skills in non-fiction through the following:
Explanation –  retelling and explaining how things work or explaining why things are the way they are.
Report –  writing  to present factual information about a topic. The information would be most commonly sourced from research e.g. an interview, non-fiction texts, a teacher led internet search.
Argument and discussion – writing  to encourage someone to agree with the point of view/opinion of the writer. This kind of writing always gives reasons and presents evidence to support those reasons and opinions.
They will continue to reinforce and consolidate VCOP using interactive warm ups etc.


In Big Maths the boys and girls will continue developing their skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals to 2 place. They will further develop skills in money through  planning and organising a Family Holiday and develop skills in using fractions decimals and percentages.

Health and Wellbeing

The focus this term is Achieving. Pupils will discuss achieving in school and community life in which they live and learn.

In Term 4 in PE we will be focussing on athletics and learning about the different athletic components and actions of running, fitness levels and power.  The children will be learning how to pace themselves when running and learning about the different techniques when sprint running and distance running.  Please note for the safety of all pupils it is important that your child has secure fitting, non-slippery indoor shoes and removes all jewellery for these sessions.  Loose and/or long hair should also be tied back.

This term pupils will practise the art of yoga and mindfullness                               


Through the topic of 'Money' the pupils will  learn how to
  • save money
  • look at different types of saving accounts
  • understand the purpose of credit and debit cards
  • plan and budget for a holiday
